73-Year Old Mama Pimp Convicted After Son Rats Her Out. Would You Turn Your Mother In?

Back in April a 73-year old woman admitted to being a pimp in New Jersey, she pleaded guilty to promoting prostitution between April 2000 and December 2004.  It looks like “mama pimp” is going to get anywhere between

one to five years of probation for her crimes.  Now the issue with this whole situation is how did they catch this 73-year old pimp when she seemed to have her business running like a well oiled machine?

Her son who is 48 years old was captured on charges of first-degree racketeering and second-degree theft by extortion, so he was faced with two choices he could either try and fight it in court or cut a deal.  He chose to cut a deal and pleaded guilty to the charges for about a 20 year prison sentence.  The problem is when he made his deal he had no choice, but to implicate “mama pimp” since they were running their schemes out of the same place.

His mother owned the home where the prostitution ring was being run out of, and the son would basically lure desperate girls into his business by promising them a better life.  When the women would fall for it, he would then force them into a life of prostitution where they would be abused.  If the prostitutes did not make the daily quota $500 for a weeknight and $1,000 on weekend nights they were refused drugs, beaten or denied entry into the house until the money was made.  Of course we all know this is wrong, and unfortunate that women are lured into what they are told

is a better life by a person being dishonest to them.

This is a strange story though, a 73-year old pimp is almost unheard of especially a female one at that.  What would you do in that situation if it were you?  If you found out your mom was a pimp at 73 how would you react to that?  Let’s say you accepted it, and then went into business with her much like the son in this story did.  If you were caught by the authorities would you then turn your  mother in, so that you could get a lighter sentence for yourself?

In any case I do not think going into the illegal family business with your mother is a good idea, an something that would end up being well odd to say the least.  That is generally the reason that organized crime families fall hard when they are infiltrated, the entire family ends up going to jail.  Usually the mob had the intimidation factor on their side, in this case aside from the son was the elderly woman just that intimidating?  I don’t think I can look at 73-year old women the same ever again!
