Michael and his team are at the beach casing an international intelligence conference. They are hoping that they can make contact with Jesse’s old boss, and get some help with what Jesse was working on. They approach him in the hotel bar, and Michael asks him if he can get information on Jesse’s last case, he refuses to help two burned spies and leaves.
Michael and the team notice that there is a heavily armed Russian special ops team checking into the hotel, the indication is that they are there for a hit on somebody. Fiona and Jesse set up one of the operatives and kidnap him by separating him from the rest of his team and knocking him out. They transport the guy to a remote location and Sam finds out that the guys name is Alexi, and they are attempting to find out if he and his team are there to kill Michael.
Michael is apparently a folk lore in the Russian intelligence community, but Alexi reveals that they are not there for Westen. Instead they are there for an old spy named Paul Anderson (Burt Reynolds), an old American spy who works at some bar. Michael and Sam head to the bar and ask for Paul Anderson, the bartender tells them he is at the end of the bar. They guy at the end of the bar is not Paul, and same ends up with a gun in his back the first bartender was the guy they were looking for.
Michael and Sam identified themselves to Anderson, and found out why the Russian wet works team is after him. He wants to clean up his own mess, but Michael and Sam insist on helping him as they watch Vitali walk into the bar with the rest of the Russian hit team. Michael and his team walk through the crowd, and take out each Russian operative one at a time; they clear the room and walk out amidst the party going on at the bar.
They get back to the safe house and try to come up with a strategy as to what to do next, they find out that Paul is not burned, but he does not have many friends on the inside. They decide to pick up some files that Paul has on a few people in order to try and get him placed back on the do not touch list, they are going to wait a day or so before they act. Fiona runs into Jesse’s old boss in the pool, and sweet talks him into meeting her in a private hotel room. She tells Jesse, and he is anxious to find out who got him burned, Michael and Fiona are trying to keep Jesse from finding out.
Paul suspects that the congressman Bill Cowley who is in charge of national intelligence is the person who hired he Russian hit team to get him. Michael and Paul get to Paul’s place and they notice that Vitali and his team have Paul’s place under tight surveillance. Michael uses Alexi as a decoy buy strapping explosives to him and standing in the middle of the street with Alexi being half naked. This attracts Vitali and the rest of his team, and Michael tries to reason with him and get his team to leave town.
Vitali holds strong and wants the chance to kill Michael Westen, but Michael threatens to blow up Alexi and all of them together. Michael leaves holding the detonator and goes to pickup Paul, but he finds that Paul is still struggling with the combination to the safe. Michael rigs up the safe to the stereo so they can hear the clicks, and they get the safe open finally. They escape with the Russians chasing them in a hail of gun fire, and Alexi is still running around half naked apparently.
They are now in a high speed car chase through the streets of Miami, and they come up on a traffic jam and are stuck with the Russians several cars behind them. The Russians apparently have satellite support which they are using to keep up with Michael’s vehicle; Michael unhooks a boat in front of one of the Russians so that it takes out one of their vehicles and use a tarp on fire to take out the other vehicle in pursuit.
They get Michael’s mom to try and get the congressman, and she goes up to him and tells him the information about the secret order he signed illegally sending American troops into Colombia. The congressman initially objects, but Madeline is insistent and he finally agrees to the meeting with Paul. Jesse meets with his old boss who reluctantly agrees to get the information about the bank heist to Fiona as long as Jesse agrees to never try to contact him again.
Michael and Paul show the congressman the evidence and tell him he better cooperate or the information about the incident in Colombia will get out. The congressman looks at the evidence Paul has and laughs
telling him he took care of that situation years ago to keep the heat off of him. Bill then threatens Michael, his family, and Paul with government audits and worsening the burn situation Michael is already in. Paul gets pissed and beat up the congressman, and Michael has to pull him off before he beats him up too bad.
Vitali and his men show up at the house where Michael and his team are at with the congressman, they are going to show him that there is real danger and he needs to help Paul. The Russians start their assault with a coordinately breach on the property, Michael and his team escape out of one of the entrances and lock the Russians inside and tell them to throw out their guns.
The Russians are deathly afraid of Michael and they throw their guns out one by one, Michael has the Russians walk out of the house and Paul kills Vitali. They tell the congressman the only way he can explain the shooting is by saying he took the spies out himself, the only other option would be to reveal he was with Michael and that would be bad for him. The congressman agrees to help Paul and take credit for taking out the Russian’s thinking it will also help his political career.
Paul gets his pension and his life back, they government also gives him a new identity and they are going to move him to Virginia. Michael realizes that Paul probably has the early onset of Alzheimer’s. Fiona meets with Marv, he tells her the bank is Miami Trust, and also that there is security footage that shows the guy who set Jesse up. Fiona destroys that information because it would reveal to Jesse that Michael burned him. She takes the rest of the information back to Jesse and Michael; they are going to stake out the bank at some point.
Jesse thanks them and leaves, after he is gone Fiona slaps the taste out of Michael’s mouth because she had to lie for him and destroy evidence. Michael tries to reason with her that it is worth it for all the people they are going to save, but she does not agree with lying to Jesse and befriending him at the same time. This plot line disappeared for a few episodes, but we were reminded of it today that at some point Jesse is going to find out and there is not telling what will happen.
