Covert Affairs Recap 1.06 – House of the Holy

Annie heads into the office, and she meets Auggie on the way in and chastises him because he “got some” last night. Joan Campbell takes her staff into a meeting room, and she briefs them that a U.S. Senator is leaking private information on secret missions. The DPD is going to investigate the senate to try and find the leak; the mission is totally off the books because of the political ramifications. Annie is being sent in undercover because she is new and no one knows her, so she will fit right in without being noticed.
Annie gets assigned to the head of the committee named Gil Jarvis, he chairs the security committee. She goes and meets with Jarvis and his wife to discuss changing out the paintings in the offices, and Jarvis’s chief of staff shows up and it seems that his wife is jealous of her. Annie starts to take the paintings down and gets some information on Jarvis’s work habits from one of the custodial staff, she finds out he has a secret meeting in his office on Tuesday nights that is off the books.
Annie goes back at night and attempts to get in, but is held up by the janitorial staff. After she cleverly cons the worker into letting her in she heads to Senator Jarvis’s office to see what the secret meeting is all about. She finds Senator Jarvis and his chief of staff having a sexual romp in his office, Annie slips back out and heads to the office to have the key card she stole duplicated. They pull Jarvis’s records and see that he has had multiple affairs over the years, and Jai reminds her that Jarvis controls the CIA’s funding so if she is wrong it could be bad.
Annie goes for a run and makes sure that she runs into the chief of staff and starts to buddy up to her, she is attempting to see what information she can find out. Annie notices her brother in law coming out of a hotel after he told her sister he would be working all day in the office, Annie thinks he may be cheating on her sister.
Annie heads back to the senators office with the painting she requested, but Mrs. Jarvis is on her out with a friend. Annie notices that she pulls a thumb drive from a laptop and places it in a desk which was a bit odd. Annie heads out for drinks with Ashley (the chief of staff) to find out more information about what may be going on. Annie prods her by telling her that she thinks Senator Jarvis likes her, and Ashley of course not able to keep a secret tells Annie she is having an affair with him. Ashley tells Annie that they meet up on Tuesday nights and Sunday afternoons, Annie talks to Jai Wilcox about the situation to see if he can dig up anything more for her.
Annie breaks back into the senators office to see what is contained on the thumb drive, she finds that the information on the thumb drive was a letter written by Mrs. Jarvis blaming Ashley for leaking secrets. In reality Mrs. Jarvis is the source of the leak, Annie emails a copy of the letter to Jai so that he can analyze it. Joan Campbell briefs everyone and the plan is that they are going to let Mrs. Jarvis feed bogus information to her contacts by turning her, this strategy is being employed so that they can get everyone involved.
Annie tails Mrs. Jarvis to attempt to catch her passing information to her sources, there are agents everywhere as Mrs. Jarvis goes into a library and places an envelope into a book and leaves in a Taxi. When Annie is about to tail her in another Taxi she rus into her brother-in-law and says she will discuss the situation with him later. Mrs. Jarvis meets her friend for lunch and she leaves, Annie is at the same restaurant and she goes to sit with her. Annie tells her she is in the CIA and that she needs to come with her, Mrs. Jarvis wants to call her lawyer, but Annie tells her that will only take the situation public. Mrs. Jarvis agrees to go with her without a fuss. Joan Campbell interrogates Mrs. Jarvis and they find that her friend Tina talked her into doing it, Mrs. Jarvis then starts to talk about how she built her husband’s career by putting him through school and how she was scorned by the cheating. Joan sits down and has a heart to heart with her, and tells her she did it because she wanted to kill her husband’s career to stop him from cheating.
Joan tells Annie that Ashley still has to take the fall for this so that Mrs. Jarvis can continue to feed false intel to her contacts. Annie goes and breaks the news to Ashley, in the meantime Mr. Jarvis shows up at CIA headquarters where his wife lays it all on the table to him. Jai Wilcox realizes that the Indonesians would assassinate Ashley to keep her quiet, and a man walks up while Annie is debriefing her. It is revealed that some of the sensitive information that Mrs. Wilcox saw is one of the missions that Auggie is leading his old unit on remotely by running tactical ops. Joan goes to tell Auggue, but gets there too late as they went into radio silence minutes before she arrived. Back at the boat docks the assasain makes his move on Ashley and Annie tries to stop him before he is successful.
The garage closes and Annie has to run around the building as Ashley is getting attacked, Annie starts to fight with the assassin and Ashley runs away as they struggle with each other. Annie recovers from a blow to the head, shoots the assassin with a flare gun, and a brawl ensues. Annie manages to subdue the assassin and save Ashley, Auggie comes up with some last minute heroics and he manages to save his unit before they run into a trap.
After everything is over, Gil Jarvis gets up in front of the press to resign from his position as Senator. Annie talks to her brother-in-law and tells him that he needs to tell her sister the truth, he reveals to her that he lost his job and that it is not an affair.
