At this point in American History we are supposed to be living in post racial America, if you are Black, you can be president of the United States. Well students of at least one middle school in Mississippi, until recently could not be president of their class.

It is sad but true. Nettleton Middle School in Nettleton, Mississippi recently released its guidelines for students running for office. And one of the “qualifications” for the office of class president was whiteness.

The highest office a Black student could hold at Nettleton Middle School was vice president of the 8th grade. Out of twelve available offices, 8 were reserved for whites, while 4 were set aside for Black students. Apparently, the school believed that for children, “good moral character” (another requirement for holding office) included accepting segregation.

In the same tradition, the guidelines for the school’s homecoming court does not allow for the election of four INDIVIDUALS, but rather for two COUPLES – one Black and one white. Apparently, they want to avoid the appearance of supporting interracial relationships if students of opposite races were to be chosen as King and Queen. And, these rules are in place DESPITE the fact that the school principal is an African American woman!

These polices were only recently changed in the last few weeks when a parent complained because her mixed race daughter would not have been eligible to run for Treasurer. They said that the policies were implemented 30 years ago to ensure that all races would have an opportunity to hold different offices. I am not sure how effective the policy was 30 years ago, but it sure is archaic and useless now.

There are still segregated proms in the South in some areas, and there are still laws on the books from the days of segregation that should be eliminated. But laws and traditions are kept on the books because people do not like change and accept things the way they are because of fear.

We are in 2010 and still having segregated proms, and dumb policies in place that only servet to alienate people? America needs to take a hard look at itself, as many in this country seem to think it is okay that a school mandates the color of it’s class elected officers. The people who like these policies are just as bad as the parents who held a separate “White Only” prom for their children when the school finally eliminated a old policy of having segregated proms.

For those that thought we are living in post racial America please wake up. This country still has major issues with race and culture that are not going to be resolved anytime soon, if ever. Maybe several decades of children will help the problem not be as pronounced, but hate and racism are learned behaviors. We all play with each other as babies right? When you were three years old did you care about color?

We find Annie in a rainy warehouse type area, with a dead woman lying next to her. The police arrest her with a gun in her hand, and she is taken into custody. Arthur and Joan Campbell discuss the reasons Annie is in custody, and Arthur wants to know if Ben Mercer is involved. Joan does not know and is more worried about getting Annie out of federal custody as it looks like she committed a murder. Annie is locked in the interrogation room, and the agent that comes to interview Annie is the same one that arrested her back at the hotel.

Joan shows up posing as Annie’s lawyer, but the FBI agent isn’t buying it. He allows her to meet with Annie, and Joan is there to find out what happened. Annie is having trouble remembering, so they try to recall together what happened. Annie attended an art show under her Smithsonian cover, and she is watching an auction on a particular piece. As the bidding goes on it gets up to $3 million dollars, and an individual bids $10 million dollars for it which was a gross over bid for the item.

Annie attempts to find out who the person is, but the auction house does not give out personal information. Annie tells Auggie about it and he tells her to enter the information in the computer and see what comes up. Annie invites Jai Wilcox to dinner at her sister’s house, and her sister thinks that he is great for her. Jai heads home and the situation is kind of awkward because it seems there might be some interest there, Jai tells Annie to take her time.

As Annie goes back to her room to sleep, Ben Mercer comes through her window; of course you know she is shocked. Ben starts out trying to explain why he left, and then he tells her that he was the one who told her to watch a specific lot at the auction. He tells her that leaving her was the hardest thing he ever did, but he needs her to trust him. The auction was purchased by the right hand man of an arms dealer who uses the auctions to move his money and buy weapon schematics. He tells her that Joan and Arthur Campbell are not to be trusted and they just want to control the weapons and not destroy them. He also tells her to go talk to a lady named Sophie Jacklin at the auction house and ask her about two lots and specific dates, he adds that she should not believe anything that anyone at the CIA tells her about him.

Annie decides to trust him and attempts to search the CIA database for information on Ben Mercer or Sophie Jacklin, and she is stone walled by the data security. She heads to the auction house and uses the information Ben gave her to get an audience with Sophie; unfortunately Sophie gets a bit suspicious and pulls a gun on Annie wondering who she is. Annie tells her that she was sent by Ben Mercer to help her, and Sophie then puts the gun down and starts talking to Annie about what is going on.

Annie convinces her to go back to Langley and tell the CIA what she knows, but before they can leave the gun dealers men show up to get the painting and catch Annie and Sophie. They run into the warehouse and the men give chase and killing the security guard. After a game of cat and mouse one of the men is killed, and the other one knocks Annie out as they are struggling with each other. He then focuses his gun on Sophie who has her gun pointed at him, they both end up shooting each other as the fire sprinklers go off in the warehouse (which is how the episode started).

Joan continues to interview Annie, and Annie is attempting to lie about parts of the story. She omits any mention of Ben Mercer; Joan senses that she is lying as Annie starts to mess up details. Auggie is trying to restore the search history from Annie’s computer while Jai Wilcox searches Annie’s house for clues. Auggie asks Jai does he know anything about a Ben Mercer as he found that information in the search parameters he restored, Jai says no as he finds an album with pictures of Annie and Ben in it. Jai calls Joan Campbell and lets her know, Joan presses Annie and tells her that she is considered a civilian and she will leave her there to face the charges unless she comes clean. Annie tells her she saw Ben Mercer, but wonders if the agency recruited her because they thought she could bring him in.

Annie comes clean about everything she knows, but has a confrontation with Joan. She puts her back in line and tells her that in the end either she does her job or not, and she assigns Annie to the FBI agent to try and find out who the shooter is at the Auction house. Annie talks to Auggie and tells her that she got off fairly easy as she could have been brought up on treason charges, and that she can’t shoulder the blame for Sophie getting killed.

Annie heads back to the auction house with the FBI agent, and they find that the painting they were looking for is missing. As they leave they find the security guard murdered as he saw someone leaving with the painting on a security camera, apparently the shooter came back for the item. Annie gets back to Langley and tries to explain to Joan that they got there too late and asks her what she wants her to do, Joan tells her to go home and stay there the rest of the night.

When Annie gets home she remembered that Ben Merer placed a book of matches on her night stand with a location on the docks and the name of a boat. Annie heads down there thinking that Ben Mercer will be there, but instead she runs into the gun runner Russ HIlger who tells his men to kill her. They escort her to some place to dispense with her, and she starts a fight with the two men and a chase ensues. Annie jumps over a series of boats and manages to get away from one of the men only to see a gun pointed in her face by the other. Jai Wilcox and backup show up just in time to arrest Hilger and his men before they can kill Annie, Joan Campbell had her followed and she was thankful for it.

With the mission complete Annie seems to be worn out from her ordeal, seeing Ben Mercer stirred up a lot of mixed feelings. Joan Campbell tells Arthur Campbell that Annie will not be used as bait anymore, but Arthur Campbell tells her that it is not her call. He adds that as long as Annie works for the CIA she will be used in whatever way necessary, Joan does not seem please, but is powerless to do much about it. It seems that Annie is conflicted about what to believe and exactly what to do in order to make sense of it all, this was an interesting twist on the storyline. Everything is in the open now, but still mysteries remain about exactly why the CIA wants to catch Ben Mercer so badly.

Have you ever felt a knot or lump somewhere on your body that probably should not be there? Most of the time it just goes away, or you find that it is typically nothing. Well one unsuspecting person found that it was more than nothing and ultimately received the biggest surprise of his life.

Police in the western city of Bochum said doctors found a .22 caliber bullet in the back of a mans head after the 35-year-old went to have what he thought was a cyst removed. Presented with the 5.6mm projectile, the man recalled he had received a blow to the head around midnight at a New Year’s party “in 2004 or 2005”, but had forgotten about it because he had been “very drunk”, a police spokesman said.

The man told doctors that he “remembered having a sore head, but that he wasn’t really one for going to the doctor,”. The wound later healed around the bullet and it was not until the man decided to have the lump examined due to recurring pains that the discovery was made.

German Police said they were not treating the incident as suspicious as the bullet might have got lodged in the man’s head when a person celebrating New Year’s fired a gun in celebration. “It may have been a shot fired up in the air which entered his head on the way down,” the spokesman said.

Either way you look at it, how can someone walk around with a bullet in their head for over five years and not know it? I guess he had better count his blessings because the situation could have been worse, wearing a hard hat seems to be the strategy for the next new years party.

Another article written by Greg Dragon, you can see the original article and others over at his website http://www.halloftheblackdragon.com.

In the Gym today I ran into my good friend Brian and exchanged the usually pleasantries that we normally did “how are you, how is your family” etc. etc. and I was shocked when he answered negatively to the family portion by saying that he no longer talks to half of them. This was quite disheartening since I know his family… but before he could tell me the reason I knew what it was already. Brian is an entrepreneur who always did odd jobs whilst balancing his business in order to keep the money flowing north. He was suffering from an ailment that many people go through but keep quiet about. Talk to any guy with money and he has a story about a friend, loved one or family member who has started dissing him over money. When we are raised with the monicker “money is the root of all evil” floating over your head, is it any wonder that people hate on you when you’re doing fine?

Everybody loves to pat you on the back when you’re down but when you’re up they get mad at you. And yes I know that is a general statement but I am referring specifically to the people who engage in this activity. Sometimes people do not realize that they are doing this, they are being mean and not knowing it. With money comes a lack of understanding and speculation. It’s the same thing that happens when you are a young black guy who drives nice cars and has lots of company during the week, your nosy neighbors will immediately assume foul. Your good intentions are oft times misunderstood or spun a completely different way than the way you meant it. Lets view some examples:

You take some friends to Vegas all expenses paid
Your thoughts: I just want us all to have a good time without worrying about money.
Their thoughts: Damn he has it like THAT!? This is like a mortgage he gave me to spend.

You pick up the tab at a huge gathering of friends and family
Your thoughts: Everyone had such a good time and the meal was expensive, I don’t mind.
Their thoughts: I didn’t ask him to do that, why does he have to flash his money like that.
Dragon’s note: This is especially important to avoid doing when women are involved. Nothing cuts a guys balls off faster than some handsome young schmuck paying for yours and her meal. Just don’t do it.

As you can see well meaning intentions can and will be spun as an attempt by you to show-off. Another problem that arises is the friends, brothers, uncles, cousins and even fathers with no boundary issues will want to get into your money via loans or plain old begging. One NBA player explained that the reason why he would never loan money to friends or family is because it emasculates them in a sense (assuming they are male). I can understand his feelings, you loan someone $10k what’s to stop them from coming back every month for the same amount? Then there is the fact that they are now “in your pocket”. It’s not a position you want to place someone who you love, gifts are gifts but loans can lead to bad feelings.

Here’s the thing, if and when I get into money the only persons that will know are me, myself and I. This is unrealistic yes but that’s the level of privacy I intend to keep with it to avoid the stress and craftiness that accompanies the almighty dollar. Have you had an experience with money that made you the hater or the hated?

Michael and company are on the lookout for Jesse, and Michael knows that there is nothing he can do about it except go ahead and complete the mission. They find out where Barrett is staying and they want to make a statement to Barrett that she should be worried about Michael as a threat. Michael infiltrates the perimeter of the compound and contacts Barrett on a Walkie Talkie after he disables one of the body guards outside. He tells Barrett that he should take him seriously; Barrett agrees and tells Michael not go get cocky because he has several men targeting him at the moment.

Michael says he is just there to talk, and they start to negotiate about ownership of the bible. A meeting location is set and they start to talk terms, Michael tells Barrett he wants to know what the bible decodes and that Barrett should hire him. Michael leaves the scene with the meeting time set, and he goes to meet with Vaughn in order to update him on the situation. Vaughn tells Michael that Jesse is reaching out to sources in the intelligence world and that he will take Jesse out if Michael does not keep him under control.

While Michael, Sam, and Fiona are talking about the plan a man walks up and hands Michal a load of money and asks him to come with him. Michael scoffs initially, but then the man tells him his boss a prominent lawyer’s daughter was kidnapped and he needs his help to get her back. Mr. Scott tells Michael that his daughter Becky was kidnapped by one of his clients who is telling him he better get his brother out of jail or else. They meet with Dale Dawson who shows them proof of life and says if he brother gets out everything will be fine, Michael makes a few comments to make Dawson want to figure out who he is. As they leave Dale Dawson has Michael tailed, but Fiona and Sam are watching and they follow the tail back to a night club.

The night club has a lot of activity during the day, so Fiona goes to distract the lookout while same puts gps trackers on the bottom of every car in the parking lot. As the head back to their car they see Jesse was outside watching them, as they try to talk to him he gets in his car and speeds off. Sam starts to map out where all the cars he put the trackers on and see where they are going, he is trying to find a commonality between their driving patterns.

Sam finds a location that is far away and gives the kidnappers the ability to see approaches in all directions, so Michael and Sam attempt to come up with a plan of attack. Michael asks Mr. Scott to ask one of his clients to borrow a submersible vehicle from one of his drug smuggler clients; in the meantime Fiona is looking for Jesse and is unable to find him. Michael goes to meet with Vaughn and they start to plan how they are going to get Barrett, Vaughn also gives Michael Jesse’s location as his men tracked him to a hotel.

Michael meets with Fiona and tells her that he found Jesse, but then Fiona reveals that she kissed Jesse on their last operation and that her betrayal cut deeper than his. She volunteers to talk to Jesse and thinks taking Madeline with her will make sure that Jesse does not kill her, Michael agrees to it as he leaves to go save the kidnapped girl (Becky). Michael arrives in the submarine and as he sneaks up on the building several armed men converge on him and Dale Dawson walks out. He tells Michael he tapped Mr. Scott’s Ex-wife’s phone thinking he might get some good information, and he overheard a call where Mr. Scott told his Ex-wife that a man in a submarine was leaving to save their daughter.

Dawson gives Michael a video of Mr. Scott’s daughter and tells him to give it to him, but Michael says a not guilty verdict is impossible and he can get his brother out. Dawson is interested and decides to take Michael up on the offer, so Michael heads back to Mr. Scott’s house and admonishes him for talking about the plan to anyone. The come up with a plan to trick Dawson into believing that his brother is free long enough to get Becky back, and he tells Mr. Scott to call in some muscle from his criminal friends. Madeline and Fiona go to talk to Jesse and Fiona apologizes and asks Jesse to forgive them for what they did to him, Jesse is obviously pissed and does not want to hear it. Madeline asks Jesse to wait a few days to kill Michael because he is trying to save a little girl, it seems like they got through to Jesse a bit.

Michael and Sam meet up with the muscle sent over by Mr. Scott, and setup a van as a fake police transport. Fiona goes and kidnaps the guard who was watching the club, they dress him up to look like Dawson’s brother and put the plan in action. They have Fiona and Sam act like they rammed the prison transport van with Dawson’s brother inside, Fiona and Sam play the role and act like they held the guard and up and took Dawson’s brother and got away.

They head to the meeting point to do the hostage exchange location and both parties bring out their people and hostages. Dawson gets over to the car and see that the prisoner is not his brother and a gun fight ensues, Michael and his team get away with Becky and no one was hurt in the process. Dawson is angry now, Michael warns him that Dawson knows who he is, but Mr. Scott does not seem too worried as he has his daughter booked on a flight out of the country. Michael decides to keep the submarine as payment for his services.

Michael goes to the place where he plans on meeting Jesse, he is late but Jesse finally shows up. When he walks in he tells Michael that he contemplated shooting him from the outside for about 20 minutes, and that he has not decide whether he is going to kill Michael or not. Michael asks Jesse to help him bring Barrett in, Jesse does not plan on helping him, and he is still undecided whether he is going to take Michael out or not.

When Michael gets back they talk over the plan and no matter what they come up with it comes down to Michael being alone with Barrett, they really need Jesse to help, but have to go ahead with the plan. As Michael sits at the meeting location Barrett drives up as Michael stands there with the bible in hand. Barrett and his men get out as Sam and Fiona keep watch from a concealed location, Barrett walks up and Michael tells him he wants work in exchange for the bible. As Michael hands over the bible he finds out that the secret cipher in the bible is a list of names detailing the lives of the people who burned Michael and Simon.

As all of this is being revealed Vaughn moves in and tarts attacking Barrett’s men, apparently he did not heed Michael’s suggestion to stay away from the meet. Barrett thinks Michael double crossed him and decides to take him in order to find out what is going on, as they grab Michael Jesse reveals himself and shoots the guy grabbing Michael. In the process he shoots Michael through the shoulder, Barrett end up grabbing Michael and the Bible and driving off in an attempt to get away.

Michael is losing blood from his wound and grabs the steering wheel causing the SUV to flip over; Michael makes his way out of the SUV while Barrett looks to be out of commission. As Michael lay on the ground next to the SUV drifting in and out of consciousness he looks at the metal case containing the bible and decipher code. Before Michael goes fully unconscious he see someone walk up grab the case and walk off with it, he is in no condition to do anything about it as he goes unconscious from the blood loss. The leaves a lot of questions; is Barrett dead? Who took the bible? Is Jesse back in with Michael or was his shot a failed attempt at killing him? New episodes of Burn Notice start again in November tune in.

Most people never think about what they would do if they escaped from prison because, well most people don’t expect to be in prison. I guess the man in this story did not think about what he would do once he escaped either. A prisoner who escaped from police and swam across Queensland’s Brisbane River was recaptured nearly seven hours later while downing a beer at a pub, police and hotel employees said.

Kayd Thorp, 24, escaped from police yesterday afternoon at Brisbane airport, where he had been taken to be extradited to the state of Victoria to face charges there. Thorp swam across the river and was on the run for more than six hours before police located him that evening in the pub of the Manly Hotel. Manly Hotel duty manager Chris Jones said police entered the pub and approached two men drinking together.

“They approached a couple sitting at the bar and spoke to a young male and after a few minutes handcuffed him and took him outside,” Jones said in statement read to the Australian Associated Press by hotel staff. “He was apparently the fugitive from the 6 p.m. news who had escaped police custody at the airport.” Queensland police confirmed that a 24-year-old man escaped from police custody Tuesday afternoon and was re-arrested that evening. He was to appear in court today on a charge of escaping from lawful custody.

What was the guys goal here? First of all he successfully pulled off the hardest part which is escaping from police without being captured, but after that he definitely gets a poor grade on planning. Most escapees will lay low and try to get out of town as quickly as possible, surely they would not go to a local bar and kick back a few beers. Let’s say he craved a beer so bad he was willing to take a chance of being caught to get one, why not just go to the local store with a hate and shades on and buy a six pack? Maybe this guy is not a career criminal, or maybe at the end of it all he is just a guy who really wanted a beer?

Annie is having breakfast with her sister as she is setting up shots for a catering business she is attempting to start as a result of her husband being unemployed. We then see Auggie with a young woman after they spent the night together, apparently the cable, phones, and internet across the entire city are out. Auggie is about to “get some”, but he notices all those services being out and he finds it odd and decides to go to work leaving the young lady at his place.

When he gets to the office Joan Campbell tells him that all of those services were down for about 15 minutes, and Auggie tells her a big time Data Security Conference is in town and a hacker is trying to make a name for them. Joan is sending Auggie in undercover, and they brief the group on what they found out about the attack. After analyzing the hacker code they trace it back to a hacker named Natasha, who just happens to be Auggie’s ex-girlfriend.

They continue to brief the mission, and as they break down things about Natasha Auggie is somewhat conflicted about the situation. Joan tells Auggie that he needs to re-unite with Natasha and offer her up to $2 million dollars for the technology she used for the hack. Auggie knows she hates the government and might scoff against that offer because she hates the government. Annie and Auggie head to the conference where Auggie briefs her on geek attire, and he hears Natasha asking a question to the speaker at the conference.

Auggie catches up with her afterward and when she sees him, she slaps the taste out of his mouth. They go into a brief discussion of their history, and she’s about to walk away when he tells her he is blind and that he wants the code she wrote. They head outside where they talk a bit more and Annie offers her the $2 million she tells Auggie he knows better than that, and that she is going to release the code on the city to cause havoc. He tries to talk her out of it and he then reveals to her that he works for the CIA and always has, that is why he left her waiting for him when they were together. Of course she is not happy to hear this news and walks off in disbelief.

Annie and Auggie head back to base as they discuss more about the history of him and Natasha’s relationship, they were together for a little over a year and things got kind of serious. When they get back they tell Joan Campbell that Natasha plans on releasing the hack at the conference, so Joan decides to send Auggie back in the next day and she gives him a pep talk to get him out of the dumps. Annie’s sister posts the pictures she took on the internet, and the CIA asks her to take them down for security purposes. Annie talks to her sister and makes up some bogus excuse to have them taken down, and she is upset but removes the photos.

As Annie goes to pick Auggie up the next day in order to head to meet Natasha, he gets a call from Liza Hearn who was the woman in his apartment earlier. She is also the news reporter who has a source inside the FBI leaking her information, and Annie believes Auggie is the leak. He tells her that he is running an off the books operation on her to try and find the source of the leak and their bosses do not know anything about it. They head to meet Natasha, Jai Wilcox and Annie keep watch as Auggie tries to talk her out of going through with releasing the hack. They notice FBI agents closing in on Auggie and Natasha and he tells her if she takes the deal the FBI won’t be able to touch her, just as he says that a truck tries to run them over and he pulls her out of the way just in time.

When the dust settles and everyone comes over to see if they are okay, Auggie notices that Natasha is gone and they are unable to locate her. When they get back to base they find out that the Russian MOB were the people trying to kill her, Joan decides it’s FBI jurisdiction and sends the files over to them. Auggie is upset that they are giving up on the operation, he heads home and finds Natasha waiting on him when he gets there. She tells him that she did some work for the Russian Mob, and now they think they own a piece of everything she creates.

Auggie fails to show up for work the next day and does not follow protocol by calling in, Annie and Jai get suspicious and they head to his apartment to find all of his stuff there. Auggie and Natasha have gotten on a train to Montreal, and at his apartment Annie finds a few clues that lead them to the train they are on (probably left on purpose). Auggie is on the train attempting to steal a card he needs to do a data transfer, and the find a Canadian business man who they run a con on to get his wallet. In the meantime Joan Campbell tells the FBI the location of the train, but she tells Annie and Jai that the CIA needs to make it to them before the FBI does.

The FBI stops the train, but Auggie and Natasha are not on it. Somehow they managed to get on another train going the other way as they pass the puzzled FBI agents. Auggie and Natasha stole the immigration cards of the two passengers they conned, and start to change the pictures and information associated with the cards. Auggie and Natasha start talking and end up “re-kindling” the feelings they previously had for each other, and seem like they have free passage on their way to Toronto.

Annie and Jai are en route on the CIA private jet, they get a fax that Auggie was not on the Montreal train. It sparks a discussion between them as Annie has 100% trust in Auggie, while Jai is skeptical because he is not following CIA protocols. Annie remembers that in Albany Amtrak splits it’s trains and figures out that they may be headed to Toronto, Jai is skeptical but he tells the pilot to change course. As they arrive in Toronto and get on the train to see if Auggie is there they hear gun shots come from the back of the train. Auggie and Natasha were still getting “re-acquainted” with each other when they get a knock on the door, Natasha opens the door before Auggie can advise her against it.

The two Russian mobsters bust in and a fight ensues, Auggie’s military training is allowing him to hold his own despite being blind. He has Natasha hit the lights during the fight which causes a misfire by one of the mobsters who ends up shooting the window out. Auggie ends up dispatching with both mobsters and tosses them out of the window, the FBI is closing in on the train as they figured it out as well. Natasha asks Auggie if she did not have access to the code would he still help her, he says he would and she gives him the USB key containing the code.

They exchange a few I love you’s and Natasha jumps from the train leaving Auggie behind, you can tell they are still in love with each other. He catches up with Annie and Jai just as the FBI shows up and asks where Natasha is, he says he doesn’t know and they walk off unsatisfied. When Auggie gets back to the office Joan tells him to never pull a stunt like that again and he promises he won’t, as he is leaving Annie talks to him about the Liza Hearn situation. He tells her that he is going to gain as much information from her as possible and hand the information over to his bosses, then he will break up with her.

Annie gives her sister a new camera because she felt sorry for making her take the pictures down, and they make up with each other by taking new pictures this time with the children instead of Annie in the photos. Auggie arrives home clearly distraught and conflicted over the entire Natasha situation, as he walks into his apartment someone puts a hand on his shoulder. The expression on his face was joy for a moment as he thought (hoped) it was Natasha, but it was only Liza Hearn he feigned a fake smile as that is clearly not the person he wanted to be there.

Facebook has taken the lead as the most popular social networking site taking the spot once held by Myspace. Many people use social networking sites for a variety of reasons, but, there are many other uses, and one of them is dating. Look it’s simple you have two single people who have similar interests, does it really matter how they meet?

Facebook has opened up the opportunity for people to screen and select a person they may be interested in dating, and much of this can be done without ever saying a word to the person. With this new found avenue to meet people, there are still some rules and tactics that should be followed. This is part three of a three part article on strategies you should use when trying to find a date on Facebook.

9. – Appear On Their Page Infrequently

You obviously want to show interest, but people can smell desperation from a mile away. The less you post on their page, the better. It will make them realize you have a life outside of your social network. It will also show that they special enough to communicate with privately and not on their page for all to see. On top of that is is fairly lame when you see people post things, and you see a person posting things like “I will be over when you get off since you need company”, that is not going to make the person want to talk to you. Most will try to play it off as joking or what not, but if you do not have that type of existing relationship with the person then you just look lame.

10. – Use the Chat Feature

Many people forget about the chat feature on Facebook. If you want to get more one-on-one with your romantic interest, instant message them when they are online. You can get an immediate response instead of waiting for them to reply to a message that might take her days to open.

Of course follow the general rules of early contact with a person, don’t start out professing your love for the person right from the jump. You are trying to win the marathon and not the race, so keep the first chat session short and conversation light. If you are too overbearing then you may never see the person online using the chat feature again, some people get annoyed with the random hello’s out of the blue.

11. – Avoid Liking All of Their Status’s and Posts

One of the most annoying thing you can do is hitting that like button every time a person posts something. The same rule applies if it is someone you are interested in, hitting like on 36 of 36 posts is going to get you kicked of their friends list fast. It gets even more annoying when the person logs in, and see that you have liked their last four status updates all at the same time. It’s almost like just like stalking, you are sitting online waiting for them to post something and hitting the like button almost immediately. This is definitely a way to ensure that you will never get a date with that person, so avoid doing it at all costs.

12. – Don’t Try to Woo Them Through Status Updates

This seems to be running rampant on Facebook these days people using their status updates to send messages to their enemies and friends. I can understand sending veiled messages to your enemies especially when they do something to piss you off, it’s a great way to let someone know that you know about the foul things they did without making it obvious. I still advocate the keep your business out of status updates approach, but watching other people do it provides me with great comedy.

An even worse idea is professing your love for some random person who does not even know you are interested in them yet. If they are on your friends list and have no clue you are interested in them then they can miss the message entirely, and if you are too obvious about it then you are only going to embarrass them. The most likely outcome is the person misses that your message is for them, and some other person who you are not interested in mistakes the message for them. Be direct whenever possible and avoid beating around the bush.

As a writer I understand my power and privilege, my pen is a mighty scythe that can be used to sever ignorance or pile up innocents. This makes me dangerous as well as necessary, it is a job I do not take lightly. Recently while visiting one of the blogs that I follow, I noticed the owner being called to question on his rather negative and biased stance to which he responded the way I would expect my buddy’s 8 year old to. It made me leery of his blog space and brought into question many of the former articles that I had read from him and the commentors that followed it on a daily basis. People should know their limitations.

What you read becomes a part of you regardless of agreeing or disagreeing. When you read garbage that you know is garbage it strengthens your resolve and compels you to comment saying “that was garbage”. When you read something that you agree with you smile and nod in agreement before moving along being that you hadn’t learned anything new outside of strengthening your stance. When you get information however of which you aren’t sure of, and it comes from a large blog/e-zine your brain will want to function it as fact, unless you are a truly inquisitive individual to research and affirm/debunk it. This is why written material is powerful, this is why I know the power of which I wield.

As a writer and a person who cherishes free thought, I implore you my anonymous and devoted visitors to take things we write with a grain of salt. While we have our expertise, you should always get a second opinion before considering an article as fact. You should also consider it’s author, were I to go off on someone who disagreed with me like a child that has been disallowed from riding in the grocery cart then you should check me and check me hard for it. Know your blog writers, know your authors and know the source from which they draw their “facts” from, because at the end of the day we are as anonymous as you are and our words could be devastating as much as they are helpful.

This is the reason why commentary is invaluable on sites such as this. You can read on something historical being incorrect and see it corrected within the commentary by a knowledgeable person who took the time to speak up. If you own a blog then consider your audience and do better to keep it crystal clear. If you aren’t sure on a thought then preface it as such and don’t post things as fact based on a strong assumption – it’s just lazy and wrong. Let’s take responsibility as leaders my fellow writers, chime in where you see fit and contribute clearly for the sake of your readership.
