Houston Rockets Superstar Yao Ming Retires From The NBA

NBA superstar Yao Ming retired from basketball last week, after a series of serious injuries made it not worth continuing his basketball career. Although he is retiring from the NBA, he still plans to be involved in basketball by working for his former Chinese team the Shanghai Sharks. He will also continue to do work for his charity the Yao foundation, so at least he will still be involved. It is a shame because Yao had become a formidable player in the post, and was quickly becoming the type of player that could lead the Rockets to a championship. Even witht he Yao chapter closing the Rockets actually have a bright future ahead of them, and are poised to land a big free agent whenever the NBA lockout ends.

Ohio State Avoids The Worst From the NCAA

The NCAA has told Ohio State that it won’t face the most severe charges possible in the memorabilia-for-cash and tattoos scandal that cost football coach Jim Tressel his job. Investigators said they found no evidence that Ohio State failed to properly monitor its football program or any evidence of a lack of institutional control, according to a letter sent to the university and released Friday. NCAA investigators also said they have not found any new violations. It seems that Ohio State's ploy of hammering Jim Tressel to the cross has worked, and pinning the whole thing on him has allowed the school to come out of this virtually unscathed.

It Looks Like The NFL Lockout Might Finally Be Over

After months of being locked out the NFL and NFL Players Association seem like they are going to finalize a deal on Monday that will end the lockout. In keeping with the proposal the league laid out on Thursday night, the NFL is also expected to work out a three-day window for teams to sign their draft picks and re-sign veteran free agents who were on their team last year, although the contracts wouldn’t be official until the NFLPA became a union again. In addition, teams will be able to talk to all veteran free agents and undrafted rookies, though deals could not be struck until after the aforementioned three-day window. Calmer heads have prevailed after an initial negative reaction that came from the players once the owners voted 31 - 0 on a new deal. After the players calmed down and were able to read over the proposal they realized things were not as bad as they initially thought.

Amir Khan vs. Zab Judah Did Not Live Up To The Hype

Amir Khan put on a clinic against Zab Judah in the fifth round of their scheduled 12-round title unification fight on Saturday night. The fight showed that Khan is one of the top fighters in the 140 pound division, but does it say more for how good Khan is or how far Zab Judah has fallen? Khan was dominating the fight when he threw a right hand that landed just at the belt line of Judah, who went to the canvas. Judah stayed there on his knees as the referee counted to 10. Judah seemed to be looking for some sort of ruling of an illegal low blow, and acted like he was surprised that he got counted out. No matter what Judah says you could see the referee in his face clearly counting to 10, and the look on Judah's face said that he didn't want anymore of Amir Khan.
